Compassion is necessary in creating a successful society. It is one of the most important qualities that people can learn. Introducing a culture of compassion in the classroom seems a natural part of education. Students should feel a part of the classroom community that they spend so much time with every school week. With compassion comes inclusivity and mutual growth. Compassion encourages students to help each other, often times the best teacher is a peer learning the same materials that has the empathy to share their strategies for learning thereby empowering their classmates. These acts of kindness come from compassion and a wish for all to succeed.
同情是创造成功社会的必要组成部分。也是人们可以学习的重要品格之一。因此，在课堂中引入同情心文化成为教育的重要组成部分。学生们应该感觉自己是课堂社区的一份子，因为他们每个星期都花很多时间在课堂中。同情心也会带来包容和共同成长。同情心鼓励学生互相帮助，通常最好的老师是学习相同材料的同学，他们需要有同理心分享他们的学习策略，从而彼此提高。这些善举来自希望所有人都能取得成功的初心。
동정은 성공한 사회에서 필수적인 부분입니다. 또한 사람들이 배울 수 있는 중요한 자질 중 하나입니다. 따라서 수업에 동정심 문화를 도입하는 것은 교육의 중요한 부분이 되었습니다. 학생들은 일주일에 많은 시간을 교실에서 보내고 자신이 교실의 일부임을 느껴야 합니다. 동정심도 포용과 동반성장을 도울 수 있습니다. 가장 좋은 선생님은 자신의 또래이며, 학생들끼리 같은 내용을 배우고, 자신의 학습 방법을 공유하고, 서로 도우며, 서로 학습 능력을 향상합니다. 이러한 선행은 모두가 성공하기를 바라는 초심에서 비롯됩니다.
For this key assignment, our class has engaged in an engineering project where the students have designed dog beds given various materials to use. By providing these dog beds to homeless shelters, students have demonstrated compassion while learning to measure, engineer, collective problem solve, and develop social skills. The 2nd grade students have also been learning to fulfill roles by taking on different responsibilities while making the dog beds. Some measure, some check measurements, some help cut the pipes, and some put the pieces together. They have been preparing by learning these roles so that they can teach the first grade students how to do it so that we can all work together. John Dewey suggested that we learn best by doing, I agree, that is why it is important to me to bring community service into the classroom for the students to be able to make an immediate difference in the lives of others.

When this project is completed, it will lead into more key assignments. Students will change gears from engineering to publicizing in order to raise money for more dog beds, volunteers to make the beds, and for people to adopt the dogs.
当这个项目完成后，我们会延伸出更多的项目。学生们将从工程建造转向宣传工作，筹集资金建造更多的狗窝、召集志愿者以及帮助人们收养这些流浪狗。
