QISS Weekly Update: 2017-2018 Week 20

Dear QISS Families and Friends,

This week, QISS welcomed over 30 selected educators and officials from the Qingdao City Bureau of Education into our building for a week-long workshop on international education best practices embraced by the QISS community. QISS teachers and students continued their normal schedule and routines without any interruptions. The initial feedback from these English teachers has been positive. Many have commented on the professionalism of our teachers, their dedication to children and hard work each day to help the students be successful.

本周，QISS迎来了来自青岛教体局下属的30多名老师和管理人员来参加为期一周的国际教育实践研讨会。这并没有影响到QISS的老师和学生们的正常课业安排和日常活动。来参加学习的老师也进行了积极地反馈。并对我们QISS老师的专业精神、对孩子的奉献精神以及每天努力工作来帮助学生取得成功都给予了极高的评价。

이번주 QISS에서는 청도시 교육국에서 선정한 30명의 교사및 교육관계자들이 본교를 방문 하여 국제 교육을 시찰하는 일주일간의 워크샵이 진행되었습니다. QISS 교사들과 학생들은 위의 방문에 영향없이 평소와 같이 정상 수업이 진행 되었습니다. 워크샵에 참여한 교사들은 매우 긍정적인 피드백을 주었습니다. 또한 본교 선생님들의 전문성과 헌신 그리고 학생들의 성공적인 학습을 위하여 매일 열심히 가르치는 모습을 긍정적으로 평가해 주었습니다.

It is flu season. Please remind your children to wash hands regularly and to not share drinks and food with others. As a reminder, if your child has a fever, please keep them home. Our school nurse checks temperatures every day as well.

现在流感病毒肆虐，请提醒您的孩子经常洗手，不要和别人分享饮料和食物。如果你的孩子发烧了，请把他们带回家。我们学校的护士每天也会给孩子测体温。

감기가 유행하고 계절입니다. 학생들의 손씻기 습관과 다른 학생들과 음료와 음식을 나눠먹지 않도록 지도해 주시기 바랍니다. 만약 자녀가 열이 날경우, 가정에서 쉴수 있도록 부탁드립니다. 매일 등교시 학교 양호선생님이 학생들의 체온을 체크하고 있습니다.

The 2^nd semester After School Activities Program (ASAP) will be starting on February 6^th. More information and signups went home on Thursday. Signups are due by next Friday, January 26^th.

第二学期课外活动课(ASAP)将于2月6日开始。

本周四，孩子已将报名表和课程信息带回家了。报名表最迟需要在1月26日下周五交上.

2학기 방과후 수업(ASAP)가 2월6일에 시작됩니다. 자세한 내용과 등록 신청서가 각 가정으로 전달 되었습니다. 등록 마감일은 1월26일 금요일 입니다.

SCHOOL LIFE

Grade 1 – Ms. Gina’s class was using different sized balls to study the relationship between the sun, moon, and earth. Also, they were working on a moon crater inquiry.

Grade 1 – Ms. Gina的班级用不同大小的球来研究太阳、月亮和地球之间的关系。此外，他们还做了月球陨石坑的调查。

Grade 2 – Ms. Jill’s students during a Writer’s Workshop session were writing their first fairy tale.

Grade 3 classes were in their literacy stations. Mrs. Merrick was working with her kids on grammar notebooking, and Mrs. Rockwell was working with a couple of students during a guided writing session.

In Mr. Solomon’s music class was examining how different material effects the timbre or tone color we are trying to create sound. Harder materials have a higher vibration and create more resonance, yielding a fuller sound.

在Mr. Solomon的音乐课上，我们正在研究不同的材料如何影响声音的音色。材料越硬振动频率越高，也就会产生更多的共振，产生更饱满的声音。

Mr. Solomon의 음악수업에서는 각각 다른 물질이 만들어내는 다른 음색에 대한 실험을 하고 있습니다. 딱딱한 물질일 수록 더 진동을 만들어내고 더많은 공명과 풍부한 소리를 만들어 냅니다.
