QISS Weekly Update: 2017-2018 WEEK 21

Dear QISS Families and Friends,

Last week was the QISS “Festival of Words”. During this annual week-long festival, all students display their essays, poetry, short stories, and a wide variety of other published works celebrating the written word. In addition, speeches, spelling bees, and language games were held throughout the week.

上个周是我们QISS的“文字节”。在这个为期一周的节日里，所有的学生都展示他们的文章，诗歌，短篇故事，以及各种各样的其他出版作品来庆祝。此外，演讲、拼写比赛和各种语言相关游戏都在这周内举行。

지난주는 “Festival of Words” 주간이었습니다. 이 기간중에 학생들은 논문,시, 단문, 그리고 다양한 문예작품을에 관하여 배우고 학습하는 행사를 진행합니다. 또한 연설, 스펠링비, 그리고 언어게임들의 다양한 행사가 열렸습니다.

SCHOOL LIFE

QISS MUN students spent the previous weekend in Shanghai attending the CISS MUN. Ms. Jenny says this year’s trip was definitely one to remember. Throughout the weekend, our students debated some of the most complex and challenging issues we face in the 21^st century. The growth in public speaking, complex problem solving skills, as well as critical thinking skills, was evident in all our delegates. In addition, students were given the invaluable opportunity to listen to influential speakers and key humanitarians such as Kim Phuc, Ishmael Beah and Peter Dalglish.

上个周末，我们的MUN学生在上海参加了CISS MUN。Ms. Jenny说这次的旅行是需要被铭记的。在此次活动中，学生们讨论了在21世纪面临的一些最复杂和最具挑战性的问题。我们学生的公开演讲的能力、对复杂的问题解决的能力以及批判性思维的能力上取得的提升是有目共睹的。另外，学生们还得到宝贵的机会来倾听人道主义者的声音和重要的演讲者的演，比如说Kim Phuc、Ishmael Beah 和Peter Dalglish等。

지난주말 QISS MUN 학생들이 상해에서 열린 CISS MUN에 참가 하였습니다. Ms. Jenny선생님께서는 이번 대회가 매우 인상적이었다고 전하였습니다. 주말동안 학생들은 21세기에 우리가 직면한 여러 난제들에 관하여 토론을 펼쳤습니다. 참가 학생들은 이번대회를 통하여 대중연설, 복잡한 문제 해결능력, 그리고 비판적 사고능력의 발전을 보여 주었습니다. 또한 저명한 인도주의자인Kim Phuc, Ishmael Beah 그리고 Peter Dalglish의 강연을 들을수 있는 귀중한 기회도 가졌습니다.

Grade 3 – Mrs. Rockwell’s and Mrs. Merrick’s students continuing their 3^rd quarter inquiry on “what happened to the dinosaurs” with their own fossil dig.

Grade 3 – Mrs. Rockwell和 Mrs. Merrick的学生正在根据他们自己挖掘的化石进行第三段关于“恐龙身上发生了什么”的调查

Grade 3 – Mrs. Rockwell 과 Mrs. Merrick의 학생들이 3쿼터 주제인 “공룡들에게 일어난일”의 주제로 화석발굴 과정을 진행하고 있습니다.

Grade 4 – In Coach J’s PE class, students are learning the joys of playing team sports such as kickball.

Grade 4 – 体育课上，学生们正在体会像踢球这样的团队运动带来的乐趣。

Grade 4 – 체육시간에 학생들이 킥볼을 배우고 있습니다.

Grade 6 Science – Ms. Goodman’s class was making a large scale compass in order to make a small scale model of the sun. The students then used this information to compare the size differences of each of the celestial bodies within our solar system.
