Dear QISS Families and Friends,
Many thanks to all the parents that attended our first re-enrollment meetings for grades 9, 10 & 11. The QISS Science Fair and Art Show were completed this past week. The QISS students continue to demonstrate their learning and show off their talents. Next Friday, QISS hosts the ACAMIS MathQuest and Rubik’s Cube tournament. We are excited to be hosting international schools from Macau, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.
感谢来参加我们9、10和11年级的重新注册会议。QISS科学节和艺术展也获得了圆满成功。学生们继续展示着他们的才华和天赋。QISS作为东道主的ACAMIS MathQuest 数学竞赛和魔方比赛将在下周五举行。我们非常期待来自澳门、深圳、苏州、上海和北京的国际学校来参加比赛。
이번주 9/10/11학년의 첫번째 재등록 및 학년별 회의에 참석해 주신 학부모님들께 감사의 말씀 드립니다. QISS 사이언스페어와 아트쇼가 지난주 성공적으로 치뤄 졌습니다. QISS는 학생들의 재능과 배움을 빛날수 있도록 노력하고 있습니다. 다음주 금요일 본교에서 QISS ACAMIS MathQuest 와Rubik’s Cube대회를 개최합니다. 저희는 마카오,심천,소주,상해, 그리고 북경의 국제학교에서 본 대회를 참가하는 학생들을 맞은 준비를 하고 있습니다.

If you are parent in grade 6, 7 or 8, the re-enrollment grade level meetings will be Tuesday, April 24th beginning at 9am in the QISS cafeteria.
如果您孩子在6、7和8年级，那再注册会议将会在4月24号下周二，学校餐厅举行。

QISS girls’ varsity soccer team finished in 3rd place at last week’s QISN soccer tournament. Congratulations to our Sharks!
QISS足球女队在上周举行的QISN 足球锦标赛上获得了第三名的好成绩。
QISS 여자축구대표팀이 QISN축구대회에서 3위 입상의 성적을 거두었습니다. 모든 참가 학생들에게 큰 박수를 보냅니다!
April 24th is a student ½ day. Buses will depart at 1pm so that QISS staff can participate in professional development activities on campus.
4月24号，学生只上半天课，校车将会在下午一点发车，学校老师将会利用这段时间进行专业培训。

SCHOOL LIFE
Ms. Jill and her grade 2 students were practicing engineering design by seeing who can build the tallest tower and balance an apple on top. The winning team made it to 123cm tall!
Ms. Jill 和他的2年级学生正在练习工程设计，看看谁能建造最高的塔，并在上面平衡一个苹果。获胜队的高度竟然达到了123cm !
Ms. Jill의 2학년 학생들은 가장높은 탑을 쌓고 가장 윗부분에 사과를 놓아 균형을 잘 잡을수 있는 디자인 설계를 연습하고 있습니다.
In grade 3, students are studying balanced vs unbalanced forces. Here they are shown experimenting with a game of tug-o-war.
在3年级，学生们正在学习平衡力和不平衡的力。他们展示了一场关于拔河比赛的实验。
3학년 학생들은 평형력과 불평형력을 배우고 있습니다. 학생들은 줄다리기 게임을 통한 실험을 하고 있습니다.
Also, grade 3 students spent a day visiting the Dinosaur Museum as a reflection opportunity after their quarter 3 key assignment, “Dinosaur Experts.
此外，为了完成第三单元的课业展示主题“恐龙专家”，三年级的学生花了一天时间参观恐龙博物馆，
또한 3학년 학생들은 쿼터3의 키어사인먼트 주제였던 “공룡전문가”를 마친후 공룡 박물관을 방문하는 시간을 가졌습니다.
In Art, Grade 7 students were learning Action Painting. Here they were studying splatter painting, a technique used by Jackson Pollock.
7年级 的艺术课上，学生们正在学习动作绘画，看，他们正在学习由Jackson Pollock发明的飞溅画技巧。

The QISS Jazz band, directed by Mr. Taira, joined the Art Show this past Sunday to provide some smooth music and entertainment for our guests.

Grade 11 student, Upton Lu receives best in show at the QISS art show this past weekend for his work in photography restoration. Here he took a photograph from the 1800s, researched historically correct color schemes, paintings and skin tones to produce a colorized photo of this Native American black and white.
11年级学生Upton Lu在上周的QISS艺术展上，他的作品是基于照片恢复而完成的。他研究了19世纪的配色方案、绘画和肤色，为这位美国土著人制作了一张黑白相间的彩色照片。
지난 아트쇼에서 11학년 Upton Lu학생의 사진복원 작품이 최우수 작품으로 선정 되었습니다. 1800년대에 찍은 미국 원주민 흑백사진을 설계, 페인팅 ,피부색 보정등을 역사적 배경을 바탕으로 컬러사진으로 복원해 냈습니다.
Grade 10 student, Tony Cho receives 1st place in the QISS Science Fair with his topic on Ocean Acidification and its effects on sea life. Mr. Cho is very serious about making a change.
10年级的学生，Tony Cho获得了QISS科学节第一名，他的主题是海洋酸化及其对海洋生物的影响。他为此领域做出了自己的贡献。
