QISS Weekly Update: 2018-2019 Week 21

Dear QISS Families and Friends,

We wish all our families and friends a happy new year. We hope you enjoy this time with family. Safe travels to everyone, and we are eager to see you back on February 18^th.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

After school activities will begin on February 19^th after we return from the Chinese New Year holiday. Please see the reminder below about school dismissal during this period of time.

中国新年假期返校后，学校的课外活动将于2月19日开始。以下是学校放学时间的提醒。

음력설이 끝나고 돌아오는 첫주인 2월19일에 두번째 방과후 수업이 시작됩니다. 방과후 수업이 있는날의 하교시간을 아래의 공지를 통해 확인해 주시기 바랍니다.

Thank you to all the parents that joined us for our China Day celebration on Thursday. Each year we look forward to celebrating our host country’s cultures and traditions. The QISS Chinese staff, students and parents plan and perform a show full of fun and surprises. We were entertained through song, comedy and dance.

感谢所有参加我们星期四中国日庆祝活动的家长们。每年我们都期待着这样庆祝东道国的文化和传统。QISS中方员工与师生家长们策划并呈现了一台精彩纷呈、充满乐趣与惊喜的节目。我们通过歌舞、喜剧等多钟形式一起度过了一个愉快的下午。

목요일에 있었던 차이나데이에 함께해 주신 학부모님께 감사의 말씀 드립니다. 저희는 매년 저희가 거주하고 있는 국가의 문화와 전통을 기념하길 기대합니다. QIS의 중국인 교직원, 학생들 그리고 학부모님들께서 다양한 볼거리와 깜짝공연을 준비하였습니다. 저희는 노래, 코메디, 그리고 댄스 공연등을 관람하며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

If your child was not here to receive their first semester award certificates, they will be made available upon returning after the holiday break.

如果您的孩子没能参加本周的颁奖典礼, 他们可以在假期结束后收到自己第一学期的获奖证书。

SCHOOL LIFE

The lower school students from Toddler class to grade 2 celebrated the 100^th day of school this past Monday by dressing up as 100 year olds and enjoying some collaborative instructional activities throughout the morning.

星期一是学校今年第100天，幼儿班至二年级的孩子们装扮成自己100岁的样子，通过各种交叉学科活动来庆祝这个特殊的日子。

토들러 프로그램 영아부터 초등학교 2학년 학생들까지 수업일 100일째 되는 날을 기념하여 100살의 노인분장으로 등교하고 오전시간에 다양하고 즐거운 행사를 지난 월요일에 가졌습니다.

In Mrs. Weaver’s AP Calculus class, she has the students taking turns each day delivering mini-lessons on applications of differentiation.

在微积分课上，Mrs. Weaver老师让同学们每天轮流进行“微分的应用”迷你课堂。

Mrs. Weaver의 AP미적분수업에 학생들이 순서를 정해 미분법 적용에 관한 미니 레슨을 하고 있습니다.

Mr. Quan’s Applied Science course is understanding and applying sterilization, growing Lactobacillus bacteria cultures to make yogurt through the process of fermentation.

Mr. Quan老师的应用科学课，同学们正在了解并应用杀菌技术，通过发酵过程培养乳酸菌来制作酸奶。

Mr. Quan의 실험과학수업에 요거트를 만들기 위한 발효작업을 통해 멸균, 유산균 배양을 적용하며 원리를 이해하고 있습니다.

Mrs. Rodden’s grade 1 students are outside making observations about the sun’s location in the sky throughout the day. Also, they are checking their sun dial to see the changes in shadows throughout the day.

Mrs. Rodden 老师的一年级学生在户外观察一天中太阳在天空中的位置。此外，他们还检查日晷，来看全天阴影的变化。

AP Physics students in Mr. Cashman’s class are learning about the moment of inertia while experiencing the difference in motion with arms open versus close to our body.

Mr. Cashman의 AP 물리학 시간에 학생들이 팔을 펼칠때와 구부릴때의 움직임의 차이를 느끼며 관성모멘트에 관하여 배우고 있습니다.

Grade 2 students working in groups, brainstorming ideas to keep ice from melting when not in a freezer. The start of the design process, so plenty of creative thinking.
